Last year the Christmas in July Gala Dinner raised $27,996 for Kids Are Kids!. Guests came together to raise funds for Kids Are Kids!’ Therapy Scholarship Program and its new Circle of Security Program designed to help WA children with disabilities or developmental needs and their families.
Each year Kids Are Kids! is inundated with applications for the Therapy Scholarship Program from families with an exceptionally high need and who are otherwise unable to access the therapy that their children need. Scholarship Programs are highly reliant on donations to continue to make a difference to the lives of these families.
Kids Are Kids! is thrilled to announce a new component to our therapy scholarship program to support families to build better relationships. Circle of Security Parenting™ is a relationship based parenting program based on decades of attachment research. The program supports parents to become more attuned and responsive to their child’s emotional needs and to be a secure base for their child, giving them the confidence to step out and explore, knowing they have a safe haven they can come back to for connection and support to cope with difficult emotions.
“We are so very excited to be able to offer the Circle of Security Scholarship Program for the first time thanks to our corporate sponsors, Kids Are Kids! families and individuals who attended the evening or donated goods and services for raffle and auction items.” said Executive Officer of Kids Are Kids!, Teresa Barrie.
Circle of Security Scholarship applications are now open to any family whose child is aged between 0 -18 years and who is able to commit to 8 sessions with a Clinical Psychologist across a 2-3 month period in our Bateman or Rockingham centre.
“We would especially like to thank Grant Thornton, ATCO Australia, Lakes Networking, The Think Fragile X Foundation and our Patron Professor Andrew Whitehouse from Telethon Kids Institute for sharing our vision and helping us achieve our goals of providing exceptional programs and services to WA families”, said Ms Barrie.
To apply for the Circle of Security Scholarship Program download the application form and return by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or post to Kids Are Kids!, PO Box 1096 Booragoon WA 6954 by Friday 28 July 2017.
