Not-for-profit therapy and education centre, Kids Are Kids! are thrilled to be announcing their new Group Program designed for parents with newborns and small  infants. The program is the nationally accredited gold standard infant massage course in Australia and Physiotherapist, Sam Jones is proud to be  an accredited  facilitator.

The First Touch Infant Massage Group Program has many benefits for both the parent and the infant including the natural release of hormones helping with relaxation,  promotion of bonding, improving the understanding of reading baby’s cues, discovering the baby’s uniqueness and increasing confidence in parenting skills.

Mum of 8 month old Ryder, Kirsty Campbell said the group was very enjoyable and beneficial. “As a newborn Ryder suffered with Colic so was extremely difficult to  settle in the first three months, I have learnt some very useful skills should my second child experience the same issues.”

Physiotherapist, Sam Jones, is excited to be hosting the new program at Kids Are Kids! main centre in Bateman, “The course is invaluable to parents and Carers of  infants; parents are learning the skills in a group environment then have some very useful tools to use at home when their baby is upset or in pain, or just when they have  a quiet moment to enjoy some bonding. Infant massage can assist the baby’s nervous system, relieve tummy pains and promote brain development and gross motor  skills”.

The group program is diverse, suitable for newborns through to older babies under 12 months. “The program has given me skills to bond and help settle my baby; even  though he likes to wriggle and move about. I would definitely attend the group again and invite my friends to come along”, says Kirsty.

The group has been heavily subsidised to make it accessible to all families and rebates through private health providers may apply. The next First Touch Infant Massage Group begins in May; enquiries can be made by calling 9313 6566 or e-mailing groups@kidsarekids.org.au. Kids Are Kids! is also planning to run a group in Rockingham and other locations on request.
