Around 150 people gathered at the Perth & Tattersals Bowling Club for the recent Grant Thornton Quiz Night and raised in excess of $7,000 for their chosen charity partners Kids Are Kids! and Manna Inc. The ticketed event provided a fun night out for corporates and individuals to come together for a good cause. Guests enjoyed refreshments and a sausage sizzle while participating in games, raffles and a silent auction.

Kids Are Kids! and Grant Thornton are working together in a partnership agreement made possible by the Grant Thornton Culture and Community Committee (GTCCC).Through the GTCCC, the Grant Thornton family helps local charity partners to grow by providing much needed pro bono services, fundraising, volunteering and mentoring.

Gail Curtis, Partner of Grant Thornton said the event was very successful. “We are overwhelmed by the level of support received on Friday night and are so proud to be affiliated with Kids Are Kids!. They are a dedicated team of individuals striving to improve the lives of children and we look forward to continuing our partnership into the future”.

As a not for profit organisation, there are operational challenges for Kids Are Kids! whilst at the same time always endeavouring to provide excellent therapy-based programs and services for children with disabilities or learning delays. General Manager of Kids Are Kids!, Teresa Barrie said the funds raised from the Quiz Night will contribute to helping to bridge the gap for families receiving therapy through the Kids Are Kids!  Fee For Service program.

“Many families are not eligible for any form of government funding; therefore their therapy fees are 100% out of pocket unless they are eligible for private health or Medicare rebates. At Kids Are Kids! we strive for our services to be accessible to every family, the funds raised from the Quiz Night will directly impact on whether some families can or cannot afford their therapy sessions”, said Teresa.

The Grant Thornton team plans to coordinate and host more fundraising events for their charity partners in the coming year and thanks their clients, staff and all associates for their support at the recent Quiz Night.
