School based services
Kids Are Kids! provides a range of individual and group therapy services to children in schools. Services are tailored to suit each school’s needs and include screening, assessment and therapy services to Kindy, Pre Primary and Primary School aged children. We work in partnership with school teachers and parents to give children all the support they need at school.
Entering a Kindy or Pre-Primary class or starting in Year 1 is a big occasion for many children and their families. Sometimes families and teachers have concerns that their child may find this transition difficult and that they may not yet have the skills necessary for the year level they are entering. This may also be the case for older children. A screen of your child’s skills will help determine if your child may need further assistance and if required, a detailed assessment will be recommended or you can request an assessment. If as a result of the screening your child needs therapy, it can be scheduled within the home, school or centre to suit your child’s needs. A Speech Pathology screen will look at speech sound production, language skills and pre-literacy skills. An Occupational Therapy screen will look at fine and gross motor skills, pencil grip and visual Perception skills.
Assessment and Therapy Services
Our team of skilled and experienced Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists can also provide a more detailed individual Assessment of a child and all assessments include a report with recommendations. Following Assessment, your therapist will talk to you about your child’s ongoing needs and design a Program to help your child’s skill development. We work closely with your child’s teacher to enhance skill development in the classroom.
