Kids Are Kids! remains committed to promoting and protecting the health of you and your family and our staff during the pandemic. For this reason we will not be returning to face to face services in May, but are using this time to monitor risk and carefully plan a gradual return to face to face service delivery.
As the risk in our community decreases, we are planning to adapt our service delivery to ensure you and your family get the services needed to achieve your goals while we also take necessary steps to reduce risks to everyone’s health where social distancing isn’t possible. As always, we will take an individualised approach, and your keyworker and therapists will work with you to explore service delivery options and your individual needs and concerns.
The first face to face sessions will be offered to children where there has been a change in needs during the last few months and/or where needs have not been able to be met through tele-practice therapy. We then plan to expand these face to face services to other families. It is important that where possible we look to provide a combination of tele-practice and face to face services to reduce the number of face to face sessions for each therapist and thereby reduce the risks to each of the children they see. This will be closely monitored in terms of effectiveness of therapy and levels of risk of Covid-19 in our community.
It will be essential that all face to face therapy sessions are either cancelled or converted to tele-practice sessions if anyone present in the session is showing symptoms of illness, including our therapists. Our staff will be maintaining a high level of hygiene including washing their hands before and after every session and thoroughly cleaning toys and equipment between use. If you believe you or your child has had contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 or waiting testing results please phone our staff on 9313 6566.
We hope that the level of risk in our community continues to decrease so that we can continue to increase the amount of face to face services we can provide. In the meantime, we appreciate your cooperation and understanding to ensure the initial face to face sessions are allocated to the children who are at the most risk, and then expanding these services to try to meet the needs of all children and families whist ensuring risks are minimised if any of our clients or staff come into contact with someone with the Covid-19 virus.
Thank you for your understanding and patience throughout each phase of our response to the pandemic. Your therapist will be in contact over the next two weeks to discuss how these changes may be applied to your services. If you have any questions or concerns please discuss these with your therapist.
