COVID-19 Service Update: Last Updated 4 June 2020

Dear Kids Are Kids! families,

Due to the easing of many restrictions and the lower risk of corona virus infection in our community, Kids Are Kids! has determined it is now safe to resume some face to face service delivery.  It is important that we roll this out gradually and monitor closely.  We will also be putting in additional safety and hygiene procedures to minimise risks of infection.  Your therapist will be contacting you to discuss how this might look for you and your family, and how we can use a combination of therapies to support you to meet your goals and minimise the risks of infection to all of the families we support.

Over the next two weeks we will be contacting families who have not been able to access services during recent months, or who have seen a deterioration in their child’s skills.  During this time we will also be working with all of our families to develop a plan that reduces risk through maintaining social distancing where possible but providing some face to face services for each family in combination with tele-practice services.

It is very important that face to face sessions are cancelled, postponed or changed to tele-practice sessions if your child or anyone in your family are unwell with any cold or flu symptoms. Our reception staff will contact you by phone before all face to face sessions to ask you some questions to confirm all members of your household are well at the time.  This is essential to ensuring the safety and health of all of the families we work with and our staff.

We can provide sessions at school if your school permits and we can do this in a way that follows our protocols.  We can also provide home visits and will be working with you to use your toys in the sessions to help you to get the most out of the therapy and also reduce infection risks.  Some of our staff will be allocated space in our centre and can offer centre based visits but we are not able to do that for all staff at this stage. Please discuss this with your therapist if you have had centre based services previously.

We are unable to provide services in day cares at the moment and will be reviewing this again at the end of June.

Throughout every phase of this pandemic Kids Are Kids! has been committed to promoting the safety of you and your family and of our staff and this continues to be the case.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Warm regards,

Lisa and Teresa
