Child psychology services in Perth
When a child is experiencing emotional, behavioural, developmental or learning difficulties, it can be hard for families to know what to do next. Kids Are Kids! provides psychology services to support children and families experiencing a range of challenges, helping them better understand their child’s needs and find practical ways forward.
Our psychologists work in partnership with children and their parents or carers to understand concerns, develop strategies and support emotional wellbeing, relationships and participation in everyday life. We recognise that every child is different, and our family-centred approach takes into account the child and the world around them.
How can a child psychologist help?
Parents seek psychological support for many different reasons. You do not need to have all the answers before asking for help.
Our psychology services can support children and families experiencing concerns such as:
- Anxiety and emotional wellbeing
Support for children experiencing anxiety, excessive worry, stress, difficulty managing emotions or challenges coping with everyday situations.
- Emotional regulation and behaviour
Strategies to help children understand their emotions, manage frustration, respond to challenges and develop skills for navigating difficult situations.
- Social skills and relationships
Support with social interaction, turn-taking, friendships, sibling conflict and challenges connecting with others.
- Developmental and everyday challenges
Guidance around concerns such as toileting, eating, sleeping and other everyday difficulties that may affect a child’s wellbeing or participation including developmental changes and their sense of identity.
- School-related concerns
Support for children experiencing school-related stress, bullying, learning challenges or school refusal, with practical strategies tailored to the child’s needs.
- Family changes and parent concerns
Support when separation, grief, stress, anxiety or changes in family relationships are affecting family life and a child’s wellbeing.
Psychology assessments for children
Understanding a child’s learning profile, strengths and areas of difficulty can help families and educators make informed decisions about the support they need.
Kids Are Kids! offers a range of psychology assessments for children, including:
- Autism assessments to help families better understand their child’s developmental profile and identify strengths, support needs and appropriate next steps.
- Cognitive assessments to help understand a child’s thinking and learning abilities, strengths and areas of difficulty.
- ADHD assessments to explore concerns relating to attention, activity levels and impulsivity.
- Specific Learning Disorder assessments including dyslexia and dysgraphia.
The assessment process begins with a consultation with parents or carers to discuss the child’s background and current concerns. Our psychologists can help determine which assessment may be appropriate for your child.

A family-centred approach to child psychology
At Kids Are Kids!, we look beyond a single behaviour or difficulty to understand the child and the world around them.
We work with parents and carers to establish goals based on their priorities and their child’s needs. This may include developing practical strategies for home, supporting participation at school or working with other people involved in the child’s care where appropriate.
Our wider allied health team also provides occupational therapy, speech pathology and physiotherapy. Where relevant, families can discuss whether support from more than one discipline may help address their child’s needs.
Our goal is to help children develop skills, confidence and greater participation in everyday life, while helping families feel informed and supported.
