Speech Pathology

Our speech pathologists support children aged 0 -18 who experience difficulties with speech, language, communication, feeding and literacy. We work in partnership with children and their families to develop communication skills, build confidence and support participation in everyday life.

You may wish to consult one of our speech pathologists if you have concerns about your child’s:

  • Speech sounds: learning to pronounce sounds and making speech clear enough for others to understand.
  • Understanding language: following instructions, understanding questions and making sense of what others say.
  • Expressive language: using words, sentences and language to communicate thoughts, needs and ideas.
  • Social communication: interacting with others, taking turns in conversation and communicating during play.
  • Phonological awareness and literacy: recognising sounds in words and developing skills that support reading and writing.
  • Oral narrative: describing events, retelling stories and organising information to communicate experiences.

Family-centred Speech Pathology

At Kids Are Kids!, we take a family-centred approach to speech pathology. Parents and carers are integral members of the therapy team. We work with you to set goals based on your child’s individual needs and your family’s priorities, then develop practical strategies to support progress.

Our speech pathologists help families build the knowledge and confidence to practise communication skills within everyday routines, supporting children to use and develop their skills at home, at school and in the community.
